Right now they have found a 40m asteroid to journey to after the Pluto system. I assume they mean comets that approach the Sun regularly.
Another ancillary benefit is it will always be an interstellar war danger to send existing-type (but with better propulsion obviously) unmanned probes to the nearest star for the first time. Even if we know a triple system won't originate civilizations relatively often. A probe to that system's Oort Cloud would be much safer than to planets. The New Horizon instruments are mostly well suited to analyze comet gas emanations and subsurface existence.

It would be useful, since we might not want to test on Earth, a faculty for adding and removing Ozone Layers. IDK the pollution risk of Ozone, but a planet like Pluto might be a good test bed for adding an Ozone Layer.Best Beta Tradingnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-270899075443508100.post-51083883665901421152015-07-09T13:10:16.459-07:002015-07-09T13:10:16.459-07:00MLB fan said if we want a colony on that cold litt...MLB fan said if we want a colony on that cold little world (Pluto) it is okay, but don't go further (I assume without solving the problem of not making AI and other WMDs). He said there is a more interesting object in the Oort Cloud from the perspective of finding life. Later reiterated when there is no tidal heating and no solar heat source, comets are the next best place to find life. Presumably a reference to passing by the Sun and heating and making organic soup. Said seeding might be possible. I think said Neptune doesn't preserve an imact record (suggesting a nearby world or Moon might have a geological record of past impacts potentially housing microbial life. Said be careful how you treat any aliens you find as could be act of war. Said ships may be disguised as comets and be careful how you treat any alien artifacts you find. Said there may be automated planetary defenses that look like comets that we might be (in the future) in danger of triggering. So, we should be careful exploring...Best Beta Tradingnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-270899075443508100.post-72500957998417933772015-06-26T10:15:05.268-07:002015-06-26T10:15:05.268-07:00I was told I will be receiving the rules for parti...I was told I will be receiving the rules for participating in an intra-galactic alliance. I thought I was receiving many of these already....and that it is sufficient to tell the leaders of two countries. If I'm not wrong, the Congress heavily advice a launch on the SLS rocket. This can be good because we can go at Europa in less than three years instead six or more. But how about costs?
A concern about the mission is the small emphasis on the observation of Jupiter itself and the other moons. The Clipper's highly capable payload (although relatively basic on the fields and particles science) can allow spectacular observations of the Jupiter system as a whole, and not only of Europa.
I slightly prefer the ESA approach of a comprehensive exploration of the entire Jupiter system, at least during the first phase of the JUICE mission.Andreanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-270899075443508100.post-9787631504473531292015-06-06T11:15:31.369-07:002015-06-06T11:15:31.369-07:00Van:
